Power Up on Protein Green Smoothie

Power up on this high protein smoothie

In case you have not yet received the memo – there’s a green smoothie revolution happening out there! Is it also happening in your kitchen? I know it’s happening in mine! Green smoothies have become a staple in my lower-fat raw vegan dietary lifestyle. I have some kind of green smoothie combination almost every day. This Green “Power-Up-On Protein” Smoothie is a current favorite, I’ve been drinking it all week and I’m absolutely loving it! Most people think that you can’t get enough protein on a raw vegan diet, but after years of eating this way and all the research showing that we’re more likely to get sick and diseased from too much protein, rather than not enough, I’m convinced that plant-proteins are the most ideal and healthy source of proteins. I get plenty of protein by eating leafy greens and vegetables, and making delicious smoothies like this one!

Power-Up on Protein Green Smoothie Recipe

Kitchen Equipment:

All you need for this recipe is a high-powered blender. I personally love and recommend a Vitamix blender. I’ve had mine for many years and it’s never failed me. A high-powered blender is one of the top 4 essential raw food kitchen tools that I recommend.

Raw Organic Ingredients:

  • 5-6 big curly kale leaves (I usually remove the lower part stem at the base where it’s the hardest)
  • 1/2 a medium sized cucumber
  • 3 bananas
  • 1-2 cups coconut water
  • 2 dates
  • 1 Teaspoon of Spirulina

Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Serve and enjoy!

Smoothie Benefits

This green smoothly breaks down to approximately:

  • 85% carbohydrates (about 121 grams)
  • 10% protein (about 17 grams; over 1/3rd your daily requirement in one meal)
  • 5% fat (about 3.12 grams)

This Power-Up on Protein smoothie is also a great source of vitamin C (over 300% of daily requirement!) and Vitamin K (over 1200% daily requirement!)

Think you can’t get enough protein on a raw vegan diet? Think again. This smoothie is a testament to how easy it actually is to fill your protein requirements on a daily basis.

Have a healthy, happy day!

Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii,

Laura Dawn
